Facts about Chalcedony


Chalcedony

Element: Water or Wind

Colour: White, pink, blue, red, greyish

Appearance: Transparent or opaque, sometimes banded, all sizes, often seen as geode or small tumbled stones

Source: USA, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Iceland, Mexico, Britian, New Zealand,  Turkey, Russia, Brazil, Morocco

Blue Chalcedony is a silicon dioxide mineral with a hardness of 7.  It differs from Jasper in that the Quartz is arranged in fibrous layers rather than the sugar-like grains found in Jasper.  Blue Chalcedony is found in India,  Brazil, Turkey and USA.

Purple Chalcedony is a silicon dioxide mineral with a hardness of 7.  It differs from Jasper in that the Quartz is arranged in fibrous layers rather than the sugar-like grains found in Jasper.  Purple Chalcedony is found in Mexico, Brazil, Turkey and USA.
