Peridot

Element: Earth

Colour: Olive green, yellowish green, honey, red, brownish

Appearance: Opaque.  Clear crystal when faceted and polished.  Usually quite small.

Source: US, Brazil, Egypt, Ireland, Russia, Sri Lanka, Canary Island

Peridot is a magnesium iron silicate with an orthorhombic crystal system and a hardness of 7.  Its olive green to li,me green color is caused by iron.
